OG Stack
The OG Stack is a performant, modular, and open-source development stack for building powerful AI-enabled appchains. The OG Stack powers OpenGradient, and allows developers to create their own AI-empowered L2 networks that leverage OpenGradient’s infrastructure for sovereign, verifiable, and end-to-end AI agents or applications completely on-chain.
The OG Stack includes a customized blockchain network with its own block explorer built on top of OpenGradient’s HACA infrastructure, directly leveraging OpenGradient’s specialized inference, data, and storage nodes. This means that OG Stack blockchains will similarly be able to run zkML/TEE-secured inference, use precompiles for creating AI workflows, interop with the AI Model Hub, and more while settling those transactions on OpenGradient’s network.
Value Proposition
The thesis behind the OG Stack is actually very similar to that of appchains, and borrows heavily from appchain rollup development with an added spin on reducing development complexities around verifiable AI:
- Seamless AI Integration: Chains get direct access to existing models on the AI Model Hub, different flavors of secure inference, precompiles for AI workflows…etc to help seamlessly expand on their application feature set. No hassle with setting up TEEs, deploying models, figuring out complex ZKML libraries, or hardware acceleration. Everything works out-of-the-box like magic.
- Model Tooling: Developers get access to useful tooling for model deployment and management like OpenGradient’s SDK and AI Model Hub, and they will be fully compatible with any OG Stack chain.
- End-to-end Verifiability: Increased verifiability since the entire agent or application is run fully on-chain. Instead of just raw verifiable inference, processes like RAG and agentic reasoning become on-chain and completely verifiable via your chain’s own block explorer.
- Shared Primitives: Tools be developed, open-sourced, and shared between different OG Stack chains. E.g. Integrations of different agent tools (data access, ML workflows) built into the OG Stack can be easily integrated into other OG Stack chains.
- Permissionless Composability: Unlike centralized AI or TEE-based solutions, the OG Stack allows developers to permissionlessly build features, integrations, and apps on OG Stack blockchains.
- Value Accrual: Value can accrue to the token of the sovereign agent or application as a function of traffic or users.
- Customizability: Similar to appchains, AI agents and applications can develop specialized infrastructure or precompiles catered to their specific use-cases
In addition to the infrastructure-level benefits, OG Stack blockchains get access to a suite of proprietary platform and development tools built by OpenGradient for free to help facilitate development. SolidML precompiles for AI workflow development in smart contracts, direct interoperability with the AI Model Hub, access to models directly via Python or the CLI with the OpenGradient SDK, and the list goes on.
We’ll also continue developing powerful interoperability and coordination primitives for the OG Stack to help developers across different chains build exciting projects like agent swarms or large-scale agent simulations.
Use-Cases
We’re excited to be working on launching OG Stack chains with multiple clients in private alpha, exciting ideas we’re exploring for different classes of OG Stack chains:
- Infrastructure Chain - A network that leverages OpenGradient’s out-of-the-box secure AI inference and workflows, and builds on top of that by creating new customized precompiles or infrastructure pieces to extend the capabilities of the network. E.g. Creating edge nodes that collect device data and perform simple transforms on the data, before sending it on-chain AI workflow to generate important metrics.
- Agent Chain - A network hosting a programmable AI agent that is able to live completely on-chain, including data access, LLM inference, agentic reasoning, and toolcalls. The agent has its own token, blockspace, block explorer, and developers can extend the agent's capabilities through permissionless programmability of smart contracts to build data integrations, apps, or features.
- Application Chain (AppChain) - An appchain that leverages secure inference and AI workflows natively on-chain as part of its feature set.
One of the most exciting OG Stack partners we’re working with is Peri Labs. Peri Labs is building vertically-integrated AI infrastructure to unlock the key challenges in DePIN networks today.
By leveraging OpenGradient’s OG Stack, Peri Labs is creating the world's first AI-native blockchain specifically designed for DePIN, serving as a foundational layer that effectively coordinates resources such as models, compute, and data across edge devices. Peri will address key challenges in DePIN networks today through this partnership, extending the capabilities of the OG Stack to harness the untapped potential of over 24.5 billion consumer devices worldwide and scaling verifiable AI computation for edge devices.
